… I’m feeling so refreshed and ready to go! Although I’d be lying if I told you I’m not missing the sun ; ) I recently took a little time out to relax. To celebrate my besties wedding in Hong Kong. To eat a huge amount of delicious Chinese, Japanese and Malaysian food. To eat from street food stalls who cooked my favourite small bites. To eat in amazing seafood restaurants as we watched the sun set and listened to the waves. With cocktails of course! But most importantly, I got chance to spend some time with my family who are in Hong Kong – especially my sweet gran who I’ve not seen for some time. She’s 93 now. How did that happen? Oh, and she made me cry! This literally happened in the first 3 seconds of me seeing her. We also had an incredible time touring the historical sites in Xi’An, China – which was just Wow! I felt so, so lucky to have been there… and then we soaked up sun rays in Penang, as well as a very fun day doing a styled shoot in Hong Kong too. More on that very soon! Having now been back and finally got over the crazy jet-lag – I’ve caught up with my couples, meetings with vendors, finalised details for the next few weddings and have more plans for an international shoot in the sun later on in the year… I’m all set ready to go for more exciting weddings ahead. I’ve not felt so good in a long time. I say that proudly because at the very beginning of the year I was feeling exhausted after a busy 2012 – mentally and physically I just needed a little time away, and of course spend some quality time with my husband, Paul, too. He too was so ready. After spending several weeks planning everything for our trip {from flights, transfers, visa’s, hotels and tours – yes, I looove to plan!} I’m pleased to say, it all went very well – all the traveling went smoothly {just one little glitch with Visa’s – a computer typing error it turns out which held us up in China on both occasions} my besties two day wedding was incredible and I hope to share some snippets of my trip soon, just in case you’re thinking about visiting those places in East Asia too : ) So, if you’re feeling a little like the way I did at the beginning of the year, go do it! Take a little time away with no work – whether it’s fun times at home with the children or just sticking a pin into a map… go and have fun and enjoy! What do you do to relax or where do you plan to go next? Please spill the beans and inspire me for my next break! xoxo

Wow! A year has flown by since Amy and Andrew’s wedding… and my, this was one amazing wedding which I’ll never forget. One wedding day, three very unique venues in the city of Birmingham and a stunning Jenny Packham gown. I adored Amy and Andrew’s style so very much – there was Art Deco at The Electric Cinema, a lot of elegance throughout and a touch of vintage at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. It was so lovely to work for them both, as well as alongside a team of amazing wedding vendors. Wishing them both a very Happy First Anniversary!… Carms xoxo

no comments I remember my very first meeting with Hannah and Michael like it was yesterday. It was the end of May last year and it was one of those evenings when it was still nice and warm around 5pm but by 9pm it was getting so cold! It’s funny how you remember such a small thing! Hannah and Michael live in Leeds and we arranged to meet the day before I had to head up to Scotland. So we spent a good few hours discussing their every little plan they had for their August wedding. I remember calculating in my mind at the time, we only had 11 weeks, for a total of 600 guests… with still a long list of to-do’s! Hannah and Michael are incredibly busy people. They work 7 days a week around the clock for the family business and to plan a wedding too was impossible, so they knew it was time to get in touch with me to help them. With so much to do and each week was getting closer to their big day, I was virtually working round the clock myself! We had late night meetings as they start work early and didn’t finish work until 7-8pm and we had to get every small detail in place from invitations, flowers, the most incredible vintage Porsche for the groom, decorative items, finalise the catering, car parking for guests for the city banquet reception, arrange timings for all four dress changes for Hannah, including make up and hair, finalise the lion dance route and instructing bride and groom… the list seemed never ending. But the day went so perfectly and smoothly! A huge thank you to the team who worked from early until late for Hannah and Michael’s big day and to Butterworth Photography for these lovely photographs!
Oulton Hall -Hannah and Michael had chosen the beautiful Oulton Hall for the ceremony and on the morning of the wedding we had gorgeous blue skies and sunshine. The bridesmaids were preparing for the door games and I had selected the most perfect suite for this. Big enough for the brides family to remain in the suite and a private hallway for the Hing-Dai’s!
The fantastic Louise Ingman Hair and Rachel Liney Make Up remained with us all day for Hannah’s hair and make up…
Chinese Door GamesNervous Hing-Dai’s ready or maybe not so ready?! The Tze-Mui’s were certainly ready!
Seaweed and something super sour! This is for the Sweet, Sour, Bitter and Spicy tradition
Firenza Floral Design was a great pleasure to work with and both of Hannah’s bouquets were gorgeous. We decided to have a bouquet to complement Hannah’s different dresses in particular one for her Chinese Kwa and another softer bouquet for her white wedding dress.
Oriental City -The bride and groom were greeted by the traditional Chinese Lion Dance on arriving at Oriental City, where the Chinese Banquet was hosted. This was also a very well known restaurant in Leeds owned by Michael’s family.
May I take this opportunity to once again Congratulate Hannah and Michael on a very long and blissful marriage!… Carms xo

Every year someone will always ask ‘Do you love or loathe Valentines Day?’ or ‘Is Valentines Day just another expensive day?’… well, I personally just looove the sweet February the 14th! But this year Paul and I are celebrating a little differently. My brother-in-law is getting married today! Depending what time you read this, I may well be just getting ready to put my frock on, or we’re witnessing Andrew and Hayley become husband and wife… or maybe right now I’m giving my now sweet sister-in-law the biggest congratulation hug! So, what will you be doing on this Valentines Day? I hope you have a very sweet and romantic day too. Lots of hugs + love to you all xoxo

2 comments Happy new year! Hope you have a lovely time. What sort of things are in a traditional home cooked Chinese meal? I’d be really interested to know! Thank you Jess! My Mami cooked a traditional meal of fresh steamed fish garnished with ginger, spring onions and soya sauce, chinese mushrooms with a variety of vegetables, tiger prawns in a spicy chilli sauce, pak choi and scallops. All served with boiled rice
Hello + a very happy Tuesday to you! Today, I would like to introduce you to a very sweet couple – Tabitha and Chris. As a big fan of Rock My Wedding ever since the launch, Tabitha really put a smile on my face when she got in touch with me last year to see if I would be able to co-ordinate their wedding. Tabitha is due to marry Chris this summer and I’ve been following her fabulous Real Brides diary ever since I knew she would be keeping us up to date with her planning journey… and just how excited am I when I read Tabitha’s latest posts on RMW?! I very first met them at the end of September last year and it was like chatting to old friends as we talked about what they had planned for Oakham Castle to their marquee reception… which also means a blank canvas for all of their DiY details. Oh Yes, I love DiY touches! And if I mentioned a Kula Tsurdiu bespoke dress, pinwheels and she has even sourced fabric and sewing patterns for her bridesmaids dresses… doesn’t this get you a little excited too for their wedding day?! I so cannot wait to see every little detail come together for them both… so let’s count down with them and follow their journey here : )

no comments Hello everyone! I hope you’re wrapped up warm in this cold UK weather! If a little chilly, don’t worry, I have something to really make you smile and warm you up… Just 7 weeks before their wedding {and only 8 weeks before Christmas, which seems a long time ago now but its only been a month!} I met with Lydia and Roland to discuss their wedding plans. Although a short space of time to plan everything but a last minute venue hiccup meant they had to change venues and by the time we met, they had already fallen for The Priest House on the River. Straight away I started to shortlist suppliers, re-order new invitations, discuss floral and styling arrangements… but, and a big but… the whole 7 weeks wasn’t without a challenge or two. In fact, Lydia and Roland were faced with some very difficult weeks. To respect them and their family and friends, I won’t go into detail but let’s just say, I was absolutely ecstatic for them when less than 2 weeks before, I had the final go ahead and their wedding date remained as 21st December 2012. I don’t think I’ve been so happy in my entire year! I so desperately wanted them to have a most amazing day and that was all I could focus on. They really deserved it. On the morning of the wedding, One Love Weddings began to capture these beautiful photographs of their day…
I already knew Lydia had chosen a Sassi Holford dress {yes, I shrieked with excitement too when Lydia said Sassi Holford!} from the lovely boutique which is The Little White Dress in Nottingham, and I really couldn’t wait to see her! Lydia is naturally beautiful and elegant, and her dress was just perfect for someone as sophisticated.
Lydia had a clear idea of what she wanted for her bouquet… and she chose this gorgeous wintry red bouquet of baccara roses and deep red calla lillies…
St Michael’s & All Angels – Stanton by Dale, Derbyshire
Canon in D by Pachabel began to play… bridesmaids Victoria and Miriam looking so pretty…
then that very moment when the very stunning bride made her entrance with her father…

Lydia and Roland decided to name the tables with wintry words in Maori; in honour of Roland’s family and his roots… with many who had travelled all the way over from New Zealand to celebrate with them

Gorgeous flowers with pine cones, gold and a touch of feather by Michele Gledhill…
Congratulations once again to Lydia and Roland! It was so lovely to have worked for such a fab couple who really deserved a beautiful day.
