I can’t believe it’s already the very end of September and the UK is getting colder by the day… but fear not, wedding fayres and events are hotting up right here in the East Midlands and all over England!
This last month has taken me to some great wedding fayres and events… here are some of the places I have been to…
I went along to Makeney Hall for one of their open evenings. Makeney Hall is a Victorian country mansion near Belper, Derbyshire. With some lovely wedding suppliers exhibiting, I also took the opportunity to take a little look round this wedding venue local to Carmen Weddings.
New wedding venue, The Roundhouse on Pride Park Derby was definitely worth a trip earlier on in the month. A really impressive building and it was part of an incredible project by Derby College. It is definitely one venue to visit to fully appreciate, and yes, I think it’s rather stylish! After spending some time meeting and chatting to many local wedding suppliers, next visit was Breadsall Priory.
Although not my first visit, I still love the approach to Breadsall Priory; there’s something about the long country drive and stunning grounds surrounding this hotel. From lovely cake designers to great photographers, it was great seeing what was the latest in their portfolio.
As Carmen Weddings is located right between the three counties of Derby, Nottingham and Leicester, I decided to take a little trip over to see who would be at one of the Leicester wedding fayres a couple of weekend’s ago. From more fab photographers to great wedding venue dressers, the choice is becoming greater for us. I also love it when I find a venue dresser who has great style and gorgeous options for bride and grooms!
As September has been a busy month, I was also looking forward to to having a relaxing evening with other wedding planners from around the UK. As a member of the UK Alliance of Wedding Planners, I attended their Social Evening at The Roof Gardens in Kensington. At a stylish and chic venue, it sure was a lovely evening catching up with planners; some I’ve already met and others I met for the first time that evening. Hopefully we shall have some photos to share soon!
The Roof Gardens
Last weekend on a bright but chilly day, I took the short drive over to Plumtree to The Carriage Hall. A stylish wedding venue and perfect for a couple looking for a place as unique as them. Warm and welcoming, with beautiful beams and chic decor I have to say, I love this place!
So, what’s a wedding planner to do with a little time on her hands after a venue visit? Head straight for the next one of course! Next up was the Three Counties Fayre at the Hilton Hotel near East Midlands Airport to see more fabulous wedding goodies!
Not forgetting the Double Happiness side of Carmen Weddings, I was at a recent Chinese Mid-Autumn festival event in China Town, Manchester. In true Chinese style, it was Mooncakes and food galore; course after course of authentic Chinese cuisine! I also took the opportunity to soak in more of the Chinese culture but also finding some gems for a Chinese Double Happiness inspired wedding!
Burton On Trent, Staffordshire
Earlier on this week I was over at Dovecliffe Hall Hotel in Burton On Trent. A delightful hotel with beautiful rooms and decor throughout; I am so pleased Dovecliffe Hall Hotel is right on my doorstep. They are also hosting a wedding fayre on 31st October 2010 shall you be interested to see what this fine hotel has to offer.
As you can see, I’m more than willing to visit the fayres and events if you’re not a huge fan of visiting them all yourself. We find the greatest and best suppliers to work with and keep up to date with all the latest trends to pass on to our clients. Carms Xx
