Crazy For You

What an exciting start to a brand new week – I would like to really make your heart flutter and share with you this gorgeous engagement shoot from the fabulous South East London based photographer – Dwiko Arie.

Dwiko Arie kindly sent over this collection and I instantly fell in love. The couple, the gowns, the London scenery… all too beautiful. Here the fantastic Dwiko Arie tells us a little more about Willy and Eden and being the one behind the lens…

Willy and Eden are good friends with one of my associates, Roy of For Each Love, back in Indonesia. They wanted to do a stopover in London during their European tour, for a pre-wedding shoot. Roy couldn’t make it to London so he recommended me to shoot their pre-wed. The couple officially tied the knot last month in the stunning St. Regis Hotel in Singapore! Unfortunately I wasn’t available to fly over to Singapore to cover their wedding.

The pre-wedding shoot for Willy & Eden was the toughest and the longest one we’ve ever done in London. It consisted of 2 days and 8 costume changes. In Indonesia this may be normal but here in the UK we usually only do the 1 costume change max! Both days we had very early wake up call, with Bethan Owens, our make up artist starting her work on Willy at the crack of dawn because by 8-9am we wanted to be on the move to get some soft morning light. We would take it in turns to shoot photo and video whilst bouncing off ideas with each other – we knew it was going to be an incredible project.

Before we started this shoot, Eden, the groom-to-be, had a last minute insecurity about his hair, so we had to rush him to the nearest barbershop, whilst Willy was getting her make up done and we were very impressed with the clothing supplied by Mischa, a young designer in Indonesia. All of the dresses she had given us for this shoot were incredible and different, it was difficult at times which ones we had to prioritise because they were too good to be missed out on. We concentrated mostly on the white wedding dress, as it was simply stunning.

If you’re wondering why in one of the photos above where Willy has an apple on her head…well, they run a fruit market in Indonesia, and they needed to juggle the pre-wed shoot whilst communicating with their business and were constantly on the Blackberry! So that picture was kind of a gesture saying “Leave us alone!”

About Dwiko Arie PhotographyIt seems a bit cliché when a photographer says that he got into photography because he picked up his parent’s camera… well it’s exactly how I started out. I took my step-dad’s SLR camera to Bali and started snapping away. Back in the days we had to wait a few days to get them developed, then it was like opening my presents on Christmas Day!

From the beginning I’ve fallen straight into the circle of Asian Wedding photographers, mainly Indians and Middle Eastern cultures. This will be my 4th year in the wedding industry and I really want to diverse more into the Jewish, Chinese and the creative white weddings. We’ll be pushing our portraits and family stuff this year too. Social networking have been a crucial part of our success, I’ve been involved in quite a few international weddings, because of social network! I’ve covered weddings in amazing locations such as India, Thailand, Kenya, Cyprus and hopefully will be shooting my first wedding in the US later this year!

With an already amazing portfolio, I’m sure Dwiko Arie Photography will only keep on growing!

A very huge thank you to Dwiko Arie for sending this gorgeous shoot over… I totally love and I cannot wait to see more of your gorgeous work this year! … Carms Xx
